‘Clever kids’ with attention disorder need to be ‘cleverly organized’
Written by Marianna Lagoumidi, Expert ADHD
The gifted kid with ADHD needs to live by setting rules for everyday life – let’s not forget that!!!
The result of ADHD (Attention Deficit and / or Hyperactivity Disorder), in any case, is clutter, procrastination, lack of confidence, lack of confidence, lack of memory, lack of evaluation.
Children at risk for ADHD, from infancy, are happier when the environment – space and people – is organized. Although it is hard for them, they are trained fast!
Good parenting communication with kindergarten and school is of great benefit.
Some strategic ways to enhance the organization of a child with ADHD are:
- Involvement of the child in the organization of the room in his / her room, following the instructions given by the mother, from the age of 2 years.
- Minimize organization requirements.
- Frequent repetition of the way the room is organized.
- Fixed day schedule. We recommend that the program be discussed in quiet time, such as at lunch, so that it can be heard!
- Discussion with the educator / teacher, the specific need of the child.
- Child participation in sports.
- Join a group for learning music.
- The daily game of parent-child organization.
- The “Together, we will play together” book, 2019, by Marianna Lagoumidi, GRIGORI ed. («Έλα να παίξουμε μαζί» in Greek)
The routine, the repetition of the daily program and the least of surprises are the key for the organization for children with attention difficulties.
ADHD symptoms, attention deficit disorder, impulsivity and hyperactivity lead to self-control problems. As a result, children with this disorder need more control than adults.
In closing, I will summarize by saying that the way a child is educated and organized since birth can affect all his childhood, adolescence and adulthood. It is the responsibility of the child’s environment to help.
